1. Virus menular dengan cara menulis file "autorun.inf" di root directory dari Flash Disk. Hal ini berakibat saat Flash Disk dicolokkan ke dalam komputer/laptop anda, Windows akan langsung meng-eksekusi program yang dirujuk oleh file "autorun.inf" ini. Akibatnya, virus berjalan, dan komputer/laptop anda pun tertular. 2. Virus menular dengan cara menyembunyikan folder-folder di Flash Disk, lalu menggandakan dirinya dengan nama yang sama dan icon yang sama dengan icon folder. Akibatnya, pengguna yang kurang awas bukannya men-double-click folder yang ingin dibuka, malah men-double-click program virus tersebut. Dari kedua cara tersebut, cara pertama adalah yang paling beresiko karena cara pertama tidak membutuhkan interaksi pengguna sama sekali. Jadi dengan mencolokkan Flash Disk ke dalam komputer/laptop anda, maka akan dapat mengeksekusi virus tersebut. Cara Pencegahannya adalah : 1. Anda dapat mencegah Autorun berjalan dengan cara menekan tombol “shift” pada Keyboard selama 10 detik pada saat Flash Disk dicolokkan ke komputer/laptop anda. 2. Men-disable Autorun melalui “gpedit.msc”.
Jadi menurut saya, cara yang sekarang ini cukup aman adalah dengan cara mencegah pembuatan file “autorun.inf” yang dilakukan oleh virus. Cara membuatnya adalah sebagai berikut : 1. Hapus file “autorun.inf” di root directory dari Flash Disk Anda, lalu segera buat sebuah folder dengan nama “autorun.inf”. Cara ini didasari atas 2 prinsip yaitu a. Windows tidak memperbolehkan dibuatnya sebuah file dengan nama yang sama dengan nama sebuah folder. b. Function call menghapus sebuah folder berbeda dengan function call menghapus sebuah file maksudnya adalah jika virus berusaha men-delete file “autorun.inf” tersebut, virus akan gagal dan mengalami error. (Karena “autorun.inf” yang kita buat bukanlah file tapi folder). Tetapi cara ini masih ada kelemahan karena bisa jadi virus dapat melakukan 1 function call yang tepat sehingga dapat menghapus folder “autorun.inf”. Nah, untuk pencegahannya kita dapat melakukan dengan langkah selanjutnya. 2. Masuklah ke dalam folder “autorun.inf” yang baru Anda buat, lalu buatlah file teks baru dan beri nama file teks Anda menjadi “퀏셛됝鍔聎.txt”. Jika anda tidak bisa membuatnya, anda dapat mengcopy-nya. Pada saat Anda mem-paste karakter-karaketer tersebut sebagai nama file baru, karakter-karakter tersebut akan tampak seperti kotak-kotak. Ini normal karena. font yang digunakan Windows untuk menampilkan nama file tidak memiliki bentuk huruf (glyph) untuk karakter-karakter tersebut, sehingga akan diganti dengan kotak. Karakter di atas adalah karakter Unicode. Cara ini didasari atas 2 prinsip yaitu : a. Sebagian besar virus tidak men-support Unicode akibatnya karakter di atas akan diperlakukan sebagai karakter Windows. b. Karena Windows menggunakan pemetaan UTF-8 untuk memetakan karakter Unicode multi-byte menjadi karakter Windows single-byte, maka karakter-karakter di atas akan terpetakan menjadi beberapa karakter kontrol C1, yang tidak bisa/tidak mau diolah oleh Windows function call non-Unicode. Nah, pada tahap ini folder “autorun.inf” kita sudah diproteksi oleh sebuah file teks dengan nama Unicode. Akibatnya, virus-virus yang 'sok pintar' ingin menghapus isi folder ini akan mengalami kegagalan saat dia berusaha menghapus file-file di dalamnya. Karena cara ini masih bisa dihapus secara manual, maka kita perlu melakukan langkah selanjutnya, 3. Simpan file “makesuperdir.doc” dari link ini . Kemudian ganti nama file“makesuperdir.doc” menjadi “makesuperdir.vbs”, dan jalankan file "makesuperdir.vbs" dengan cara menklik file tersebut dua kali. Program “makesuperdir.vbs” ini adalah program sederhana yang akan membuat sebuah folder yang tak terhapuskan di dalam folder “autorun.inf” di root directory. Langkah ini didasari atas windows explorer tidak bisa menghapus folder yang karakter terakhirnya adalah spasi sehingga jika folder “autorun.inf”, maka akan muncul pesan error, dan tidak jadilah folder “autorun.inf” terhapus.
Semoga tips ini dapat berguna untuk mengurangi penyebaran virus di sekolah kita. Jaya SPENSA...!!!

Di dunia, khususnya di Indonesia, penularan virus paling banyak terjadi melalui Flash Disk. Ada 2 cara virus bisa menular melalui Flash Disk yaitu :
Tetapi kedua cara tersebut masih memiliki kekurangan karena jika anda menggunakan “windows explorer” dan meng-klik Flash Disk anda, maka dapat juga mengeksekusi virus tersebut dan akhirnya virus akan menjangkiti kompuer/laptop anda.
